Shirebrook is an expanding market town serving a nearby population of some 20,000 people. A busy market takes place three days a week.

Over 1000 new houses are either under construction or are planned for commencement in the near future. A significant number of these houses are 4 or 5 bedroom, and will be marketed as dormitory housing for Sheffield.

£20 million has recently been allocated to Shirebrook to redevelop parts of the former coal mine area and to create a new business park.

Shirebrook is located between the three local towns of Mansfield, Chesterfield and Worksop. It is reachable within 10 minutes from the M1 (junction 29), and approximately 25 minutes from both Sheffield and Nottingham.
